The Echelon golf course is a Rees Jones signature design that, from the tips, is one of the most challenging courses in Georgia.  It is also one of the most beautiful courses as the property lent itself beautifully to an undulating, curving tract which ranges around 2 lakes and has some spectacular mountain views.

I was fortunate enough to be on this property before a single tree was cut or a single yard of dirt was moved.  The experience of watching the design and construction process at this course is something I shall never forget.  The opportunity to stand beside Rees Jones (the US Open Master) and hear his thoughts about designing a course that would be enjoyable by novices and professionals was truly enlightening.  Here’s a quick slide show of the Front 9, including a few of the construction photos.
